NEW YORK, NY(SMI-GLOBAL-UNIVERSITY-SPORTS-OCT 31-NOV. 01, 2025)-The Columbia University DIV I Women's swimming and diving team kicked-off its season defeating NYU(Div III) 170-130, with diver Chloe Leung claiming first place in both 3M & 1M diving competition to give the Lions its first win of the season at Columbia University in NYC.
Both Universities athletic programs compete in separate conference and divisions but always looking to achieve the highest success with its school athletic programs in the NCAA.
In the Women 200 Yard-Medley relay, The Lions took first and 2nd place led by Shaelyn Shields, Natalia Diaz,, Ella Chan & Sally Ma with the final time of 1:44.75 for first place and Emily Wang, Ashley Hong, Annabelle Kung, Isabel Lee with 1:46.02 in second place.
Women 1000-Yard FreeStyle:Lindsay Orringer (Columbia) won with 10:26.00, Sammy Segerson (Columbia) finished 2nd with 10:32.33 while Emery Mueller (NYU) took 3rd place with 10:39.86.
In the women 200- Yard-Freestyle, NYU's Kaley McIntyre took first place with 1:50.69, follow by Columbia's Victoria Mori who finished 2nd with 1:52.83, and in the 100-Yard Backstroke Maeve O'Donnell(NYU) touched the wall at 56.91 while Shaelyn Shields (Columbia) took 2nd with 57.20.
Women 100-Yard Breaststroke: Ashley Hong and Natalia Diaz took first & second place with a 1:05.87 & 1:06.28 final time and Nicole Ranile took first place for NYU in the 200-Yard Butterfly with 2:03.94.
In the 50 & 100-Yard Freestyle, Kaley McIntyre (NYU) & Isabel Lee (Columbia) finished first and 2nd in both consecutive competition with the final time 23:42 & 23.81 (50-Yard) & 50.80 and 52.54 in the 100-yard freestyle.
In the diving competition, Chloe Leung swept both 3M & 1M finishing in first place with 282.15(3M) and 285.30(1M) for her first sweep and registering two NCAA Zone scores.
500-Yard Freestyle: Mia Avansino (Columbia) won with 5:02.26, Shaelyn Shields took the 400-Yard IM with 4:27.91 and the 200-Yard Freestyle relay led by Reese Heidenreich, Natalia Daiz, Maddie Rivard & Mia Avansino won for Columbia in the final event with 1:40.40 to claim the final victory of 170-130, in 16-events in the duo-meet.
