THUN, SWITZERLAND(SMI-GLOBAL-WOMEN-SPORTS-JULY 02-27, 2025)-FIFA ranked #26, Finland Women's national team and #14, Iceland, two of the five Scandinavians counties participating in the tournament collided in showdown match with Finns defeating the Icelanders 1-0, to claim its 3-points in A, of the UEFA Women's Euro 2025, at Stockhorn Arena, in Thun, Switzerland.

The Finnish team also known as "the Boreal Owls" outperformed the Icelanders in the game-stats 56%-44% in possession, 16-13 shots on goal & tie 4-4, shots on target to claim its win and 3-points in Group group A.

Finland went to the attack from the start with 3-consecutive counter-attack towards goal in the first 10' of the game.

Midfielder Ria Noora shot on goal during a loose ball inside the 18' to the hands of Iceland goalkeeper Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir for the first clear threat to goal at 8' mark. Midfielder Katarina Kosola on a fast break ran with the ball near the penalty box after receiving a long ball from down field through the left-side field, shot a right-footed canon over the crossbar for a goal-kick and 3' minute later, Kosola found a rebound-ball barely outside the 18' and shot a right-footed to the left-side goalpost, sending goalkeeper Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir stretching and parrying the ball away for a corner -kick at 16' mark.

Both teams traded counter-attack without any major danger at either-goal to remain scoreless at the half.
 
In the second half, both teams locked-horn defensively for the first 25' until Finland found the back of net through midfielder Katarina Kosola. Midfielder Eveliina Summanen after intercepting a pass from Iceland's defender Agla María Albertsdóttir passed the ball across the left-side field to Kosola who ran inside the 18' and scored with curled right-footed shot to the upper-right corner ending in back of the net to secure the 1-0, victory for the Finns over Iceland.
