GALLEN, SWITZERLAND(SMI-GLOBAL-WOMEN-SPORTS-JULY 02-27, 2025)-FIFA-ranked #3, Germany Women's national team triumphs over Poland 2-0, to claim first 3-points in Group C, of the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 at AFG Arena, in Gallen, Switzerland.
The Germans outperformed the Polish in the game-stats with 71% to 29% in possession,
25-10, on shots to goal and 6-2, shots on target.
Germany on its first major counter-attack of the game, midfielder Elisa Senb passed a perfect pass inside the 18, to Jule Brand who shot a right-footed towards goals but it was saved and parried away for a corner kick by goalkeeper K. Szemik at 23' mark.
With the game-clock winding down, forward Klara Buhl received a long pass from down back-field, and on a fast-break passed the ball to Linda Dallmann inside the 18, and crossed it to striker Lea Schuller who shot with a left-footed ending wide outside to closed-out the half scoreless.
With 7' minute into the second half, Polish's defender Martyna Wiankowska cleared the ball short to German's defender Sarai Linder through the right-side field corner
and passed it to Jule Brand who shot a curled left-footed shot to the far-goalpost corner that ended in back of the net for 1-0, Germany over Poland at 52' mark.
In the second half, The Norwegians found the equalizer through forward Ada Hegerberg who scored with a header after receiving a corner-kick from midfielder
Vilde Boe Risa at 53' mark.
Norway went in front 5' minute later, when striker Caroline Graham Hansen received a long pass from downfield, and in a lightning breakaway crossed the ball from inside the penalty box intended to forward Ada Hegerberg, but it was deflected by defender Julia Stierli and the ball ending in back of the net for (OG) to secure the 2-1, win for Norway 2-1, at 58' mark.
Three-minute later, striker Klara Buhl in a counter-attack through the left-side field
ran inside the 18' and centered the ball inside the 6-yard box intended to midfielder Sjoke Nusken who headed it out of bound for a goal-kick at 61' mark.
Poland answered back with a counter-attack on their own, when striker Ewa Pajor
received a long pass from down-field, and in a fast-break inside the 18', evaded a defender, and shot a left-footed that was saved by goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger to remain the score 1-0, Germany at 63' mark.
The Germans kept the pressure, and in another counter-attack though the right-side field corner, forward Carlotta Wamser in a fast-break passed the ball to Jule Brand who centered the ball inside the 6-yard box finding Lea Schuller who scored with a header into back of the net to sealed the 2-0, win for Germany over Poland.
