ITHACA, NY(SMI-GLOBAL-WOMEN-SPORTS-UNIVERSITY-03-21-03.24, 2026)-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastic team finished in sixth place at 2026 GEC conference championship with an overall score of 192.475 while Penn won the title with 195.025 for its fifth straight GEC title, follow by Yale (194.625), Brown 3rd place ( 194.525), Cornell 4th place ( 194.150) and William & Mary in fifth place ( 193.800) in the tournament last Saturday March 21, at Newman Arena at Bartel Hall, Cornell University.

William & Mary led the competition with in the first session with team overall score of 193.800, followed by University of Bridgeport 192.475, Southern CT. 192.350 & West Chester registering 192.250 to closed out the overall score of the GEC conference championship.

University of Bridgeport were led by Abby Kenney & Nova Staruk. Kenney  won the all-around title with a winning score of 38.975, tying for fourth on bars with a 9.775, placing sixth on floor with a 9.850, and tying for ninth on vault with a 9.700.

Staruk shared the title on the  vault with a 9.850 to equal her season-high mark and after the meet, she was honored as the GEC Specialist of the Year, capping a stellar conference campaign that includes an impressive 9.835 NQS on the Vault.
 

Note: Sophia Dewar (Brown Floor), Nova Staruk (Bridgeport U. Vault), Jordan Barrow (Penn vault), Manama Fontana (Penn floor), and SCSU's Abby Royer (floor) were selected as part of the five GEC gymnasts that qualified for the 2026 NCAA Lexington Regionals in Kentucky.​
