NASHVILLE, TN (SMI-GLOBAL-WOMEN-SPORTS-MARCH 01-09, 2026)-Midfielder Lindsey Heaps & forward Jaedyn Shaw scored one goal each as the USWNT defeated Argentina 2-0, in their opening game of the 2026 SheBelieves Cup tournament, claiming their first 3-points in Sunday's afternoon at SC’s GEODIS Park.

Canada kicked-off the 11th edition with the 4-1, victory over Colombia as part of the double-header of the Tournament while the Stars & Stripes beat Argentina 2-0, in the nightcup to claim their first 3-points of the 2026 She Believes Cup.

A very physical game from the start with both teams trading few counter-attacks without any major danger to either goal during the first 15' of the game.

The USWNT opened the score at 19' through US captain Lindsey Heaps who registered her 39' international goal of her career with USWNT. The goal was originated through right-side field corner, defender Kennedy Wesley stole the ball from Argentina's Florencia Bonsegundo to Emma Sears who ran inside the 18' and crossed it to Heaps who from outside the penalty box  shot a curled left-footed to the opposite goalpost that ended in back of the net to put USWNT 1-0, over Argentina.

Argentina & US locked-out its defensive line the rest of the first half sending both teams to the locker-rooms with the USWNT 1-0, at the half. 

After USWNT'S goalkeeper Claudia Dickey stopped a clear goal-shot from Argentine's Florencia Bonsegundo inside the 6-yard box, striker Jaedyn Shaw scored the second goal for the US when midfielder Olivia Moultrie executed a corner-kick through the left-side field corner inside 18, cleared back to inside the penalty area to striker Shaw who kicked a curled right-footed towards goal deflecting-off Argentine's goalkeeper Solana Pereyra ending inside back of the net at 56' mark to seal a 2-0, win for USWNT over Argentina.

With the win, The US took the first 3-points and 2nd place behind Canada who defeated Colombia 4-1, and first place for goal differential.
